A handmade 22-piece wooden block set with a matching wooden storage crate, designed for imaginative play, construction, problem-solving and creativity across indoor and outdoor early-years environments.

Each set is made by hand from pressure-treated European white wood. The blocks are robust enough for outdoor play, but work just as beautifully indoors in playrooms, nurseries, childminding settings and continuous provision.

These are the blocks we use in real early-years practice at Roxanne’s Little Explorers, where they become bridges, houses, roads, ramps, stages, animal homes, obstacle courses, small-world landscapes and whatever else children dream up.

🌿 Why block play matters

These blocks are designed to support far more than building.

The handmade storage crate isn’t just somewhere to put the blocks away.

In an open-ended environment, it can become another play resource in its own right. Children may use it as:

• a boat, car, bus or train
• a market stall or shop counter
• part of a den or larger construction
• a container for treasure, loose parts or natural finds

Like the blocks themselves, there is no prescribed use. Its simplicity gives children space to decide what it becomes.

🪵 Handmade for real play

Every set is made by hand, so natural variations in the timber, grain, knots and appearance are part of its character.

The wood is pressure treated for durability and can be used indoors or outdoors. For the longest possible life, we recommend storing the set somewhere reasonably dry when not in use and avoiding prolonged submersion in water.

A suitable additional wood treatment can also be applied over time if you wish to further extend its outdoor lifespan.
